Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Facility

In May 2014, Power Company of Wyoming LLC (PCW) filed an Application for a Permit to construct and operate the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project in Carbon County, Wyoming. The Applicant proposes to construct a 1,000 turbine wind energy generation facility to produce approximately 2,500 to 3,000 megawatts of energy. The facility will be constructed on a 320,000-acre ranch south of Rawlins and Sinclair and northwest of Saratoga in Carbon County. About 50% of the project is sited on private land and 50% on federal land. Construction on Phase I of the project (approximately 500 turbines) is anticipated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2014 and continue through the third quarter of 2018. Construction manpower is anticipated to peak in that phase at 945 workers during the 3rd quarter of 2017. Construction on Phase II of the project (approximately 500 turbines) should commence in second quarter 2019, depending on federal approval processes. The Industrial Siting Council approved a permit for the facility on September 12, 2014.  12-07
