Coal to Liquids Plant

On September 19, 2007, Medicine Bow Fuel & Power, LLC, owned by DKRW, filed an Application for a Permit to construct a coal to liquids facility, Medicine Bow Fuel & Power project, with the Industrial Siting Division of the Department of Environmental Quality. The proposed facility is located in eastern Carbon County about 10 miles north of the Town of Elk Mountain. The project would be capable of generating 20,000 barrels per day of transportation fuels. The application stated that construction would begin in the year 2008 and end in the year 2012. The application stated the construction workforce will employ a maximum of 2,307 workers per month and the operations workforce will employ 450 estimated workers. The construction cost is estimated to be $1.9 billion exclusive of interest.  The Division anticipates an updated socioeconomic report and construction schedule by June 18, 2016.  07-01
