Kyle J. Wendtland has been the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Land Quality Division Administrator since April of 2015. Prior he was an Environmental Engineering Manager for the coal industry. Mr. Wendtland has held a wide range of environmental and engineering positions and has extensive experience in mining. Mr. Wendtland is considered an expert in reclamation and reclamation bonding issues and has served on a GAO/National Academy of Sciences expert panel on these subjects. Mr. Wendtland began his career with the Montana Department of State Lands in 1991 with the coal regulatory program and subsequently moved to private industry in 1993. Mr. Wendtland holds a Master’s of Science and Bachelors of Science in Range Management with a focus in disturbed land reclamation from the University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming. Mr. Wendtland has been has been recognized for his contributions in advancing reclamation science at the state and national levels.
