DEQ Releases Ozone Strategy for UGRB Nonattainment Area

Today, May 6, 2016, the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) released the updated Ozone Strategy for the Upper Green River Basin (UGRB).

The Air Quality Division (AQD) considered how the strategy should evolve after March 2016 to describe the overall ozone strategy for the UGRB ozone nonattainment area that will continue through September 2016.  The updated Ozone Strategy largely focuses on continuation of work on elements from the previous Ozone Strategy on October 28, 2015.

“The completed elements from all previous ozone strategies have all been important in building the foundation to bring the UGRB back into ozone attainment,” said Nancy Vehr, AQD Administrator. “In fact, the recent winter ozone season was the fifth consecutive winter without a monitored ozone exceedance.”

AQD staff recently completed a review of 2013-2015 quality assured monitoring data.

“Wyoming ozone monitors are in compliance with the level of the 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard of 70 ppb based on review of 2013-2015 monitoring data,” said Cara Keslar, Monitoring Section Supervisor.

The UGRB Ozone Strategy is available on DEQ’s website at http://deq.wyoming.gov/aqd/winter-ozone/resources/technical-documents/
