Alan Edwards is the Administrator of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Industrial Siting Division. In this capacity, he is responsible for managing the Industrial Siting permitting for large industrial projects in the State of Wyoming. In addition to the duties with the Division, he also serves as the Deputy Director for the Agency. His duties as Deputy including providing day to day assistance to the Director and coordinating agency wide activities. Alan has both bachelors and masters degrees in civil engineering.
Throughout his career he has gained experience in several fields of interest. He has worked for two regional and national consulting firms as a professional engineer. This includes experience at the local, state and governmental levels. His experience at the federal level includes an appointment to the Department of Energy Office of Fossil Energy where he served as the Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary. Alan’s experience also includes work with two regional electric cooperatives. In those capacities he was responsible for government affairs. With Basin Electric Generation and Transmission Cooperative Alan served as the Senior Vice President of External Relations and Communications. His responsibilities in that role included responsibility for the daily operations of the federal and state government relations functions and was responsible for Basin’s security and response services. Prior to joining Basin, Alan worked for several years with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Part of his duties were for outreach activities but for most of his tenure he was responsible to leading an initiative to identify opportunities and coordinate the start up of new local energy businesses in several states nationwide. Alan’s experience includes about 22 years of service with the State of Wyoming in a variety of capacities. Most of his tenure with the State has been with the Department of Environmental Quality.
