DEQ Celebrates SepticSmart Week

By Kimberly Mazza

Statewide, Wyo. – The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) – Water Quality Division (WQD) is celebrating Sept. 18 to Sept. 22, 2023 as SepticSmart Week.

DEQ is celebrating the week-long annual campaign to educate homeowners and renters on how to properly maintain their septic systems.

“The Water Quality Division wants to help residents with simple tips that could possibly save them thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs,” said Jennifer Zygmunt, WQD Administrator.  “Each day, a SepticSmart tip with a short video will be posted on DEQ’s social media sites.  We encourage those that have a septic system to take advantage of this free, user-friendly information.”

“Wyoming is fortunate to have healthy ecosystems.  Well-functioning  septic systems help to protect our communities and our environment,” added Zygmunt.
