DEQ to recognize Loaf ‘N Jug with Environmental Stewardship Award

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will recognize Loaf ‘N Jug – Mini Mart, Inc. with the Third Quarter of 2016 Environmental Stewardship Award.  This is the first such award for Loaf ‘N Jug.

Loaf ‘N Jug is being recognized for its voluntary efforts to replace underground piping that has had a history of failing and resulting in the release of fuel to the environment.  This campaign took place over the course of 6 years and 13 locations within the State of Wyoming. These measures were not required by DEQ.

“I believe it’s important to recognize the efforts that companies take to reduce the impacts of their businesses voluntarily,” said Landon Brown, DEQ Pollution Prevention Coordinator. “That is exactly what Loaf ‘N Jug did in Wyoming.  They chose to protect the environment from potential leaks and environmental issues.”

The Wyoming Environmental Stewardship Award is awarded quarterly to businesses that perform voluntary measures to reduce their environmental impacts.  These businesses are voted on by the Wyoming Compliance Advisory Panel (CAP) which is comprised of business leaders appointed by the Legislature and Governor of Wyoming.

If you know of a business that should be recognized, please contact Landon Brown at 307-777-7347.
