DEQ to host Storage Tank Outreach Meetings

Cheyenne, Wyo – The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) – Storage Tank Program (STP) will be hosting several outreach meetings to assist operators to better understand their equipment in order to prevent and detect leaks.

DEQ staff will present information regarding Wyoming Water Quality Rules and Regulations, Chapter 17, updates to the Storage Tank Act of 2007, and the newly implemented United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) underground storage tank regulations.

According to Oma Gilbreth, STP Compliance Supervisor, these meetings have helped storage tank operators stay in compliance with the regulations.

“Wyoming reported the highest significant operational compliance rates in the country to EPA last year,” said Gilbreth. “Outreach is a big reason for this and ultimately helps protect our environment.”
STP will be hosting these meetings in Riverton on May 9th, Rock Springs on May 11th,  and Cheyenne on June 14th and 15th.
