DEQ Recognizes Air Quality Awareness Week, May 4–8, 2026

STATEWIDE, WYOMING – The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Air Quality Division (AQD) is recognizing May 4–8, 2026, as Air Quality Awareness Week, joining state and federal partners in highlighting the importance of clean air and public awareness across Wyoming.

Each year, DEQ uses Air Quality Awareness Week to help Wyoming residents better understand local air quality conditions, available monitoring tools, and the role individuals and communities play in protecting the state’s exceptional air quality.

“AQD’s mission is to ensure that Wyoming’s air remains among the cleanest in the nation,” said Amber Potts, AQD Administrator. “Air Quality Awareness Week gives us an opportunity to share resources, answer questions, and help the public stay informed about the air they breathe. Clean air is essential to Wyoming’s health, economy, and quality of life.”

This year’s Air Quality Awareness Week theme, “Your Air, Everywhere,” emphasizes the importance of understanding air quality conditions at home, at work, and across the state. Wyoming residents can access near real‑time air quality information through WyVisNet, DEQ’s statewide monitoring network that provides data and live images from monitoring stations across Wyoming.

“Our monitoring network offers the public a clear picture of air quality conditions at any moment,” said Mark Gagen, Air Quality Monitoring Program Manager. “Whether it’s wildfire smoke, ozone, or routine daily conditions, WyVisNet helps people make informed decisions about their health.”

DEQ encourages the public to explore WyVisNet throughout the year to stay informed about local air quality and learn more about how AQD monitors, regulates, and protects Wyoming’s air.
