Subdivision Review

Subdivision reviews are governed by Water Quality Rules and Regulations, Chapter 23 and Wyoming Statutes 18-5-301 to 315.  DEQ reviews all subdivisions that meet the following criteria:

  • Subdivisions with more than 5 parcels
  • Subdivisions where parcels are larger than 35 acres
  • Subdivisions with unique site conditions or other criteria where the counties choose not to review them

flowchart of the subdivision review process explains the steps involved in a DEQ review.

Required analyses for nitrate loading, minimum isolation distances and impacts on public drinking water supply wells are described in Chapter 23, Appendices A, B, and C.

Subdivisions reviewed by counties are exempted from DEQ review.  The table below lists how many subdivision parcels each county will review and what additional criteria may apply. Please verify these criteria with the county before proceeding.
